EHRs: Linchpins For Big Data

EHRs were designed primarily to address reimbursement and care coordination issues. But efforts underway at Kaiser Permanente incorporate data from the largest civilian EHR to help improve and guide care delivery and quality assessment. How are KP providers using the EHR and PHR data (more than 10 petabytes) to manage care delivery? How do they determine how to deliver the best care to patients?
