Chief Financial Officer

The CommuniCare Family of Companies currently owns/manages numerous World-Class Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers, Specialty Care Centers, and Assisted Living Communities throughout Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Since 1984, CommuniCare Health Services has provided superior, comprehensive management services for the development and management of adult living communities.

Due to ongoing growth, CommuniCare is seeking a skilled and experienced candidate for the position of CFO. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with multi-facility executive leadership experience in the nursing home industry. The qualified candidate will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, experience at a senior, decision level role for a large skilled nursing provider, and experience relating to ownership in a privately held enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities (partial listing):

Oversee all accounting and finance functions for a 50+ facility skilled nursing chain, including oversight of home office activities, operational accounting, and interface with all departments.

Report on and drive improvement in key metrics to improve profitability. Includes on-site assessment of systems, processes, and results, where warranted.

Participate in assessment and development of plans to improve operational performance (i.e. pharmacy management, therapy management, increasing collections and reducing uncollectible accounts, etc.).

Handle financial/regulatory related matters (CON applications, regulatory research, coordinate activities with regulatory counsel and other advisors, including Medicare, all States Medicaid, HUD, banking and finance relationships, etc.).

Assist in vendor negotiation and management, including broad scope contracts (therapy, pharmacy, other supplies, leases, banking arrangements, etc.).

Analysis of consolidated company financial operations, including multiple divisions, holding companies, insurance plans, management operations, and other allied businesses.

Assist senior management with modeling of proposed operations and business ventures.

Oversee and organize all financial and quasi-financial functions to promote efficiency and effectiveness.

Resolve wide variety of business issues related to general business operations.

Experience requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance required
  • Certified Public Accountant a plus
  • Master's Degree preferred (MBA, Finance, or Health Administration)
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial leadership and experience in a Long Term Care setting
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize office workload, administer, and resolve problems
  • Careful attention to detail
  • High degree of initiative, judgment, energy, discretion, and decision making ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
