With over 30 years of experience, our company is one of the largest privately owned landscape and irrigation contractors in the state of Texas. Our company continues to grow and with growth we continue expanding our teams. We are currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer.

The CFO will play a key role in developing, monitoring and evaluating overall corporate strategy with the CEO and leaders of the management team with emphasis on bottom line performance, working capital and profitability. This position will provide useful financial insights to help make better decisions about formulating and executing strategy. The CFO will interact effectively with other parts of the company, be viewed as a trusted business advisor to the CEO and management team. Critical outcomes include supporting the management team with key financial information and operating analytics, and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business, adding value to operating businesses and voicing well-substantiated dissenting opinions.

Basic Function: The chief financial officer position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Principal accountabilities are:

Planning

1. Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives

2. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans

3. Develop financial and tax strategies for multi-city operations

4. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes

5. Develop financial operational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.

Operations

1. Participate in key decisions as a member of the management team

2. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team

3. Manage the accounting, payroll, legal, tax, and treasury functions

4. Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies

5. Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced

6. Oversee the company's transaction processing and financial systems

7. Implement operational best practices

8. Review employer/employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective client benefits package

Financial Information

1. Oversee the issuance of financial information monthly, quarterly, and annual audit.

2. Develop financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; developing actions plans

3. Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.

Risk Management

1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile

2. Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry

3. Review and monitor reliable control systems

4. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage

5. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements

6. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies

7. Report risk issues to the audit committee and CEO

8. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations

Funding

1. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts

2. Arrange for debt and equity financing if ever required

3. Invest funds

4. Review pension funds and alternative plans

Third Parties

1. Maintain banking relationships

2. Represent the company with bankers and clients

Desired Qualifications: The candidate for chief financial officer should be a Certified Public Accountant with a degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Should have experience in partnering with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and/or Certified Management Accountant designations.

Additional Qualifications: The Company has extensive multi-state operations and it is desirable to have fluency in Spanish verbal communications. The candidate will also function as Company Controller. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft excel is required and a working knowledge of Dynamics Great Plains is highly desirable.

Working Conditions: Will work in an office environment. Minimal travel to national association meetings will be necessary.

Supervises: Accounting and tax employees and the multi-state payroll department

Compensation Package: Salary is negotiable and will be determined based on experience and credentials.
