How Do Sony Navigate The Skills Gap In Big Data?

Following his presentation at the Big Data & Analytics Innovation Summit in London last November, we sat down with Nick Read, Director of Data Sciences at Sony Interactive Entertainment, to discuss his company's use of data and the skills gap ostensibly present in data science.

Nick Read leads a Data Science team in the Sony PlayStation business. He is based in London but manages a team split between the UK and US which supports the business worldwide. Nick delivers a mix of customer insight and reusable data products such as customer segmentation, customer value metrics and predictive modelling. He works with stakeholders throughout the business to unlock the value from the data they hold to better understand their customers, to improve decision-making, targeting and personalization and to deliver data products that improve their customers' experience.
