Why you should become a CCNA

The Best Career Opportunities

Choosing your career path can be a daunting task, choosing where you want that career path to lead can be even more difficult. You need to take into account all of the information you can, potential salary, work environment, and the level of stress that you may experience in a job. You also want to pay attention to where your career can take you, and if there is a lot of room to grow.

This is why I recommend going into network engineering as a career. Network engineering is a fast paced environment that has grown a lot in the last few years. Want a good salary? They have that, want to have a work environment that doesn't take over your life? You can find that as a network engineer. The best part is once you get into the work space you will find that there are plenty of job opportunities, during this technology age you will almost never be unemployed.

Sounds great right? So how do you get started? The first thing you will want to do is get your Cisco Certified Network Associate or CCNA. This is a certification program that is meant for entry-level work. Acquiring this certificate will show other  companies that you know how to do the basic work required, and will be required in order to get a job in the field.

What kind of money are we talking? Well the average CCNA salary ranges from $55,000 to about $90,000. That is a great entry level pay and leaves you a lot of room to grow in the field. For a low stress technical environment with plenty of opportunities CCNA has a great starting pay. In fact, those estimated numbers are actually a little low since they come from a 2013 survey.

How can you increase your pay after you have a CCNA? There are plenty of ways to move forward after you have your CCNA. One of the best ways to advance further in your career is by continuing to get more Cisco certifications. The more certifications you have the more work you are able to do, and as such the higher your overall pay grade. For instance having your CCIE as well could bump up your average salary to $124,000 a year, or you could look at getting a CCNP which goes up to $99,000 a year. Either way, at this point the sky is the limit.

In conclusion if you're looking for a high paying job that gives you room to grow, CCNA is right up your alley. It gives you the freedom to grow and the low stress environment that most people desire.
