What Generation Gap?

A survey of U.S. consumers finds that PC ownership is now the norm across all age groups.


While there is little doubt that younger people are more comfortable with a range of technologies than are older Americans, the gap may not be as wide as you might think. A recent survey of 43,000 consumers by Forrester Research, for example, found that, among Americans of working age, computer ownership is fairly consistent across all age groups. When Forrester drilled into specific uses, such as social networking and gaming, it found some generation gaps, but with the exception of those 66 and older, the splits were notable for being not all that notable.
