They should be able to run meetings, listen to different opinions and should also be able to put forward their beliefs on a given topic. Negotiation is part of these communication skills; resourceful analysts must be good at talking IT with business users. They also need to be good at persuading the clients to be able to unearth just the right balance between what the organization need and what they want.
Communication has evolved so much over the years that more today is virtual than physical. Virtual communication may be over the internet, phone call, video calls, etc. good analysts must be able to facilitate interaction over virtual settings.
The ability to identify practical solutions to different solutions does not only apply to analysts, but to a broad category of working scenarios. But in this case, we are more absorbed in the business analysis side of problem-solving. Business analysis is an IT oriented field, IT is not a static field, and a lot of technological advances can occur over such a short period when dealing with modern day tech. Keeping up with technological trends is a good way to keep the organization ahead of the curve. Business analysts should be equipped with relevant IT skills across different fields of hardware and software. Being conversant with new emerging technology helps in identifying unexplored potential market niches that could prove very useful for the business or organization.
Technical knowledge helps build confidence and credibility for any business analyst. BPM software is a primary requirement for any business analyst.
