Seabrook, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in New Jersey, has announced it has been given approval to advertise via Google Adwords to enhance online authenticity and provide the opportunity to reach out to those in need.
The approval was obtained from LegitScript, a vetting system for online pharmaceutical companies which partnered with Google earlier this year. For the first three months, LegitScript only offers enrollment to 30 drug and alcohol treatment providers under Google AdWords' updated marketer qualifications. Seabrook is among the few to be certified by LegitScript's 15-point provider certification, involving background checks, verifying company insurance, reviewing company policy and procedure manual to confirm legitimacy and commitment to provide effective services.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, in 2013, an estimated 22.7 million Americans (8.6%) required treatment for a problem related to drugs or alcohol, but only about 2.5 million people (9%) received treatment at a specialty facility.
In an interview earlier this year, LegitScript CEO John Horton said: "Drug and alcohol addiction devastates individuals and families, robs youth of their futures, and is a leading cause of death in the United States.
"Some fly-by-night treatment centers put profits ahead of patients, providing substandard treatment or no care at all. We want to ensure that patients are afforded the opportunity for quality treatment," Horton added.
