San Francisco-based AI optimization platform Evolv Technologies has revealed that it has raised $10m in a series A funding round. It has also acquiried Sentient Ascend, a spin-off from Sentient Technologies which provides experience optimization solutions for websites and mobile, with a client list that includes Verizon and Celebrity Cruises.
The company has planned to use the funding to scale the Ascend business and grow its engineering and data science teams, as well as expanding its capacity within its sales and customer success operations.
Michael Scharff, who previously held executive roles at Sears Canada, Toys R Us, Staples and Best Buy, has been named as the company's CEO.

further accelerate the growth of the Ascend business," remarked Bart
Swanson, chairman of the board of Evolv. "Having lived in the shoes of our
customers, he's uniquely positioned to understand and serve their complex needs
and as a result, further accelerate the company's revenue growth."
Scharff told VentureBeat: "With our new funding, we will expand our efforts to extend the capabilities of Ascend to meet the complex needs of our partners' businesses. We will also be enhancing our customer success and technology teams, as well as our authorized partner network, to provide our customers with even more support."
