Technology is created first and foremost to assist us in our daily tasks. Cellphones, computers, and other machines are relied on by modern society for convenience. However, would you believe that some forms of technology do not fulfill their intended purpose? Worse, they are the major causes of prolonging human work.

Email is a very useful tool in establishing customer relationships and gaining constructive feedback; the problem comes with its usage. Companies that use email as part of communications respond to messages based on time of arrival, rather than importance. Because of this lack of prioritization, hours of productivity are wasted. To answer to this problem, there is a need to classify emails. The least important ones should be set aside for future replies, while the urgent ones should be addressed for at most two minutes per message.

Microsoft Access

Database systems are important to a company’s record keeping. With the introduction of Microsoft Access, the responsibility of maintaining such records has been made easier. However, with the increasing information that businesses have to keep and analyze, this tool seems outdated. The data that can be stored is limited, and finding files takes time. An alternative tool is Oracle, which is specifically made to withstand the often endless amounts of data stored by some companies. 

Google Analytics

Google Analytics’ main function is to monitor a website’s performance through the amount of traffic that it gets. It provides a real-time update of how the website is going which, naturally, greatly interests companies which rely on their websites. The problem comes when owners get too addicted to monitoring site performance to the point that they sacrifice more important tasks for better business operations. Unless web traffic is the main source of the company’s revenue, make it a point to limit traffic monitoring to twice a week. Alternatively, enlist dedicated companies that specialize in analytics to take care of your website. 

Microsoft PowerPoint

This tool is commonly used when presenting information to audiences, may the context be a board meeting or a product release. Again, the problem comes with misuse. Fanatics of Microsoft PowerPoint commit the mistake of flooding slides with information. This bores the audience, which in turn hurts the reception of the ideas being communicated. Remember to keep text on slides minimal, and ensure that they will attract audiences.
